About sixth meeting of the Belarusian-Egyptian Joint Trade Commission
The Egyptian delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Head of the Egyptian Foreign Trade Service Ahmad Anter visited the Republic of Belarus from September 2 to September 5, 2019 to take part in the sixth meeting of the Belarusian-Egyptian Joint Trade Commission and the meeting of business circles of the two countries. The Egyptian delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Military Industry, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Egyptian Foreign Trade Service, the Agency for the Protection of Competition, the Agency for Industrial Development, the Center for Industrial Modernization, the Arab Industrialization Organization, and other Egyptian organizations and enterprises.
The meeting of the Belarusian-Egyptian Joint Trade Commission was held on September 3-4, experts prepared the final protocol. Representatives of the Belarusian and Egyptian parts of the Joint Commission held fruitful negotiations in important areas of bilateral cooperation, such as economics, trade, investment, industrial cooperation, science, higher education, electricity, including nuclear and renewable energy, agriculture, antimonopoly regulation and competition protection, small and medium enterprises, culture, tourism, interregional cooperation.
Important agreements were reached in all areas of cooperation. It confirms the significant role of the Belarusian-Egyptian Joint Trade Commission in coordinating the development of bilateral cooperation, stimulating the work of the ministries and departments of the two countries.
The positive dynamics of bilateral trade was underlined during the meeting: in 2018, its volume grew to 108.7 million US dollars, an increase of 10.8%, and in the first half of this year it amounted to 74.9 million US dollars and increased by 36.9% compared with the same period the previous year. Also in January-August 2019 over 40 official and business delegations of both countries visited Belarus and Egypt.
The protocol of the sixth meeting of the Belarusian-Egyptian Joint Trade Commission as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Egypt on cooperation in the field of antimonopoly regulation and competition development were signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 4, 2019.
In addition, the head of the Egyptian delegation - the First Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, the head of the Egyptian Foreign Trade Service Ahmad Anter held talks in the Government and the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus on September 4, 2019.
During the meeting of the Joint Trade Commission and the other meetings held, the parties expressed confidence that the results of the visit of the Egyptian delegation to the Republic of Belarus will serve to strengthen cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
